Ciara Cunningham of Edwardsville High School is the winner of the Belleville News-Democrat Athlete of the Week high school poll of 2023, as selected by readers of bnd.com. Cunningham, a sophomore, notched 67 attempts and 36 kills for an attack percent of 0.388, 2.76 per set in 6 matches. She also had 12 assist blocks as the Tiger went 5-1 on the week and placed fifth out of 24 teams in the Crossroads Classic in Effingham. Cunningham received 99% of the votes after the Tigers' solid week of the season.
