Since Smokey Bones closed in March 2019, the building at 6118 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights sat quietly as other businesses developed around it. Now there is finally a plan for the site of the long-shuttered restaurant. The City of Fairview Heights recently approved the permit phase for a new tunnel car wash, said Land Use and Development Director Dallas Alley in a brief phone call. A special use permit application was submitted in April for the addition of a Take 5 Car Wash. Planning Commission meeting minutes from June 13 included a statement from senior civil engineer Andrew Barclay of Driven Brands, the parent company for Take 5.
